Miranda XMOD is the name of the world’s first fully modular bicycle pedestrian, manufactured by Miranda & Irmão, and will be available in the market in 2018. This innovation allows all parts of the product to be interchangeable, redefining the concept and flexibility of the pedals, as well as their durability and lightness. The product was developed and created by Miranda & Irmão, one of the world’s leading companies in bicycle transmission components.
The modular design of this product generates “new opportunities” for the various market segments, making it possible for its users to configure and customize the bicycles, no boundaries – explains Águeda’s company.
Several “challenges were overcome” to reach the final product, due to the “need” to overcome the diversity of models and specifications in the bicycle market worldwide. From here “the opportunity arose to create a universal product, completely interchangeable, with design, light and resistant,” says Miranda & Irmão. A challenge that Miranda & Irmão’s research and development team “clearly won.”
TESTED BY CYCLISTS
The Miranda XMOD is composed of only three pieces that, together, form a complete pedal: spindle, spider and cranks. The parts can be easily changed in all variations, working in perfect harmony to achieve various configurations adapted to the needs of cyclists and their bicycles. There are many parts options, divided by categories: road bike, mountain, enduro, downhill, BMX and trekking. In the future, these modules will be expanded to offer even more possibilities.
The full pedalboard weighs less than 560 grams and can be further customized with 10 Miranda cradle options, available in various sizes and in various models, to give a unique and personal touch to any bike.
The XMOD parts are produced through fully automated processes that “guarantee the quality and the best properties” for cycling in the “most extreme conditions”.
While it does not reach the market, the modular pedalboard continues to be tested by the professional cyclists of the Miranda-Mortágua Continental Cycling Team and the Downhill Portugal Cup Winner, Vasco Bica (Mealhada) and Zé Manel Borges, the national champion of enduro mountain bike and top 10 of the Enduro World Series (EWS).

It is a Portuguese brand specialized in the development of high-end parts for bicycles, predominantly for e-bikes (electric bicycles).
