The German construction industry is experiencing optimism, as it had not been for almost three decades, thanks to a sharp increase in turnover and orders. The Federal Statistical Office and the German Construction Association have confirmed that, following the very positive results in spring, the trend will be to continue, with many new orders reaching companies.
In April, the increase in orders to larger companies, with more than 20 employees, was 6.7 percent compared to the previous month; in the first four months of this year, the increase was 6.8 percent. Since the beginning of the year, the sector’s turnover grew 8.2 percent.
A survey by the Association with the companies of the sector reveals that they show an optimism that was no longer seen since the reunification of Germany. One in four companies expects more improvements, while 73 percent believe the business situation will remain stable. Only three percent of businesses are dissatisfied with their current situation. For the current year, the Association expects an increase in turnover by six percent.
